The 82nd Division was first constituted as an infantry division on 5 August 1917 during World War I in the National Army. It was organized and formally activated on 25 August 1917 at Camp Gordon, Georgia. The division consisted entirely of newly conscripted soldiers. The citizens of Atlanta held a contest to give a nickname to the new division. Major General Eben Swift, the commanding general, chose “All American” to reflect the unique composition of the 82nd—it had soldiers from all 48 states

Company History

The
Company of Eagles was established in 1985 by an Air Force veteran.

The
company was re-established under new ownership in 2014 after passing
of the founder and his son. The business was left to the son’s life
long friend who was there to see the building of the company from the
beginning and still uses the same family of craftsmen to create these
magnificent emblems. Our promise was, and remains to continue the
legacy of the Bergsmann family business. The new ownership has been
in the apparel trades since 2004 and combined these two businesses
into a single operation. So our offerings are an expansion of
available products to better serve the collectors and gift markets.
